UM's virtual private network (VPN) allows faculty, staff, students, and sponsored affiliates to securely access and connect to the University's private network from anywhere through public networks, such as a non-University Internet Service Provider (ISP) or unsecured public wireless network.

Im not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but I have used a VPN on campus, however, it was the U of M VPN. I am not sure if they would be able to tell which VPN services they were giving access to. If you are interested, you can find more information here.
